PressThink: Big Daddy Newspaper Has Gone and Left Journalism This is a great story. The quote is from the comments. Jay hits it on the head. I had to face curmudgeons when I started working in a Journalism department. It is a sad small-mindedness that is shocking, at least at first, to detect in people whose job it is ostensibly to be open-minded and find out facts and what is going on, without letting their own feelings cloud what they write/blog/post, etc. The news biz will be better when these people take early retirement or quit in disgust.

In my view, this type ought to be seen less and less in newspapers, which cannot afford its excesses any longer. In my view, journalism would be better off if this tendency could be identified, named and discredited, just as the conservative movement would be better off if its tendency toward natavism got discredited.
