Army general “gets” blogging and uses it with troops

The general shrugs the interactions off as no big deal. “Fundamentally what I’m doing is not new. What I’m doing is communicating with my soldiers. What’s new is the medium in which we’re communicating.”

According to Wired’s Danger Room, Major General Michael Oates, the commander of the Army’s Task Force Mountain has worked out a simple style of blogging. He mainly asks questions which troops and other officers couldn’t answer F2F. He has gotten valuable information and he says that on the ground troops don’t know enough about the big picture to make their blogging a security risk.
