5 Ways Tech Startups Can Disrupt the Education System

a list of the 5 disruptive things ed-tech startups are doing. I would love to hear your thoughts – as educators, as entrepreneurs – on what other metrics you might use for evaluating this disruption. What are the five things?

  1. Should be based on “freemium” model
  2. Structured to encourage grassroots (not top-down) adoption
  3. Focus on individual learners, not “sage on stage” – needs a learning environment focus
  4. Built around “open” as in OpenCourseWare
  5. Use open source software and encourage students to write code to make the system work better.
