One-Third of U.S. Adult Online Types Time Shifters

consumers who’ve shifted the majority of their video viewing to non-live video content make up a significant portion of the adult, online population in the United States. This Off-the-Grid group represents nearly one third of the adult, online population in the United States -nearly 56 million people and growing, says the report.

Of these people, called “Off the Grid” segment by MediaPost’s  Jack Lochner, 13% have just opted completely out of live TV, yet they are watching 20 some hours of video content per week. These are urbanites, probably because they are wired better than rural populations, and there’s more to compete with sitting in front of the Tube at a set time.
