Students need to learn to control their attention. They text and then turn to the teacher and ask what the instructions that were just given are. I find they are not good at learning online, either. They are “glossing” through life, and in a hurry to see the next screen, but they never really stop to engage with what’s in front of them.

91% admitted they have used their phones to text during class. Almost half said it’s easy to get away with doing so without their instructor noticing. And 62% said that they feel they should be allowed to text in class as long they don’t disturb others.
