Facebook and Twitter Don’t Measure Up in Asia

Weibo. Launched just over a year ago (August 2009), …clocked up 50 million users by October this year and was on track to hit 100 million by 2Q 2011.  Weibo — twice as popular as Twitter even in Hong Kong, suggesting that it enjoyed even greater dominance in mainland China…

Cyworld social network was used by 78 percent of Koreans with Internet access. The Facebook-style service was a pioneer in social networking, launching way back in 1999 and launching as a mobile service in 2004.  NateOn messaging service – was also the most widely used in Korea, and was three times more popular than Microsoft’s Live Messenger.
