A road tunnel in Arctic Norway has been closed for five days – due to a truckload of burning cheese. Some 27 tonnes of the flaming brunost, or brown cheese – a Norwegian delicacy – blocked a 3km (1.9-mile) tunnel near the northern coastal town of Narvik when it caught fire last Thursday. The fire was finally put out on Monday. “This high concentration of fat and sugar is almost like petrol if it gets hot enough,” said Viggo Berg, a policeman.
Way too funny to resist posting. A personal note: I bought this cheese this summer at farmer’s market and I thought it was delicious, but no one else in my family would touch it. Hmmm.
