This piece from Editor&Publisher gives detailed descriptions of several newspapers that evolved into news operations that are willing to look at news ways of doing journalism in order to bring in some revenue. Some of the collaborations are with advertising entities, but others are clever ways to produce features for syndication. I think this considering and discussing the implications of these efforts on the careers and work that the reporters involved in these efforts end up doing is good for my reporting students and for Advertising and PR students, too.
