two bloggers, Markus Beckedahl and André Meister, who work for the independent digital rights website Netzpolitik.org. Last week, they reported that they had been informed that they were the target of an investigation on suspicion of treason for publishing two separate documents on Feb. 25 and April 15.
The documents contained details of plans by the domestic intelligence service to ask for more money to expand online surveillance capabilities, and to form a special unit to monitor social media as part of efforts to combat terrorism.
